Why QwikCapture ?

FileNet Capture straight out of the box is a powerful, feature rich product. However, the included Capture Professional Application is designed primarily for ad hoc or small volume document entry. For easy to use volume production applications tailored to your specific business needs and document class definitions, you've traditionally had to expend considerable time and money to create custom capture applications.

Now, with QwikCapture, you can set up customized, production ready scan, index, assembly and retrieval applications tailored to your specific document needs in a matter of hours without programming. For more complex applications, or to interface with in-house legacy systems, QwikCapture Custom Objects can also be developed. By using Custom Objects, only the specific special requirements of your installation need to be developed, rather than rewriting common use shells for production scanning, indexing, assembly or retrieval.

How Does QwikCapture Work?

QwikCapture is a suite of database parameter driven, customizable applications written using the the FileNet Capture API. These applications are designed to provide volume production capabilities for the main document capture functions: scanning, indexing, assembly and forms based retrieval.

Initial installation and customization is controlled by a combination of configuration wizards and the QwikCapture Administrator's Tool. Setup can be done either by your FileNet Capture trained system administrator, FTG Capture Consultant, or a third party QwikCapture Certified integrator. A FileNET Image Manager server and FileNet Capture workstation must have been previously installed, including normal FileNet security, user login information and document class definitions. Proper licenses must also be secure for all workstations using FileNet Capture and Fairlead QwikCapture.

In addition to systemwide application configurations, certain parameters such as allowable document classes and various user interface properties are configurable on a group and/or individual user basis.

Once installed and configured, QwikCapture may be used immediately by your operators to enter batches or single documents into your FileNet system and retrieve those documents based upon criteria set up during FileNet Capture and QwikCapture configuration. In addition to the standard FileNet User Index Fields, QwikCapture also allows you to index documents to a site controlled third party database (such as Oracle, MS SQL Server or MS Access), either in addition to the FileNet User Index Fields, or instead of using the FileNet indices. In this way, you may easily link newly entered documents with an existing in-house or legacy system.

As you add new document types, or change index definitions and user interface requirements, QwikCapture may easily be re-configured to meet these new requirements via the QwikCapture Administrator's Tool.

Since the same configuration information is used by all of the applications in the suite, new setups and changes need only be done once to reconfigure Scan, Index and Search.

And, as mentioned above, unique requirements and special interfaces may be addressed by creation of Custom Objects, which may be inserted at strategic points in the QwikCapture applications.
